Who Are We?
Our Background
The Horbury Women's Institute is one of more than 6,000 Women's Institutes in the United Kingdom.
The Horbury WI is still in it's infancy having been formed in 2015.
We are part of the West Yorks Federation WI, which is a bit like a regional office looking after a group of local WI's.
There are 70 Federations across the UK and all of these are under the umbrella of the National Federation of Women’s Institutes. The NFWI is the largest voluntary organisation for women in the UK and was set up in 1915 and now has over 190,000 members, one of whom was our very own Queen Elizabeth.
Activities
Some of the things that we get up to!
The WI plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.
